Emilio Cornejo steps back on the Tango Frostbite stage!

Emilio Cornejo is a versatile dancer from the city of Salta, Argentina, born into a family with roots in music and dance. His career in the arts began at the early age of five when he became immersed in Argentine folk dances, singing, and music, drawing inspiration from the cultural roots that surrounded him. Since adolescence, he has continued to perfect his technical skills and develop his versatility by delving into other disciplines such as classical dance, jazz, contemporary dance, and flamenco.
Tango entered his life quite early as he was growing up listening to the notes of the bandoneón played by his uncle "Guaso" Aquino. This renowned musician from northern Argentina became Emilio's mentor and a promoter of his artistic career. In 2004, Emilio started dancing tango, first attending classes with local teachers. Soon, his studies continued with great masters of Argentine tango such as Nito and Elba, Javier Rodriguez and Andrea Missé, Los Disparí, Graciela González, Gustavo Naveira, Horacio Godoy, Sebastián Arce and Mariana Montes, Fabián Peralta, Claudio Balmaceda and Corina de La Rosa, Pablo García, Natalia Ochoa, and his mentor and friend Filippo Avignonesi.
Emilio is considered a dancer of a high technical level, always focusing on pure, natural movement. Musicality and improvisation are his strongest characteristics. His immense stage charisma and unwavering dedication to the music make him a world-class performer, sure to captivate audiences the moment he sets his foot on the stage!
He was part of Gustavo Russo's tango company in the shows Tango Seduction, Tango in Red Major, and Tango Revolution, and also joined Yanina Quiñones and Neri Piliú's Tango Rouge company, Flamenco Tango Neapolis, and Mvula Sungani Company.
After many years of sharing his culture throughout Latin America and Europe, he is now based in Finland, where he founded his dance school "Astor Tango" in the city of Lappeenranta, where he teaches classes and seminars, and organizes his own Milonga.
In 2010, he embarked on a fascinating journey into writing. Amid extensive international tours, he found in words a new dimension to express his art. This literary chapter not only represented a personal evolution but also became a window into the creative mind of a multifaceted artist. His literary works include “Desnudando mi otro
yo" (2021), “El baile de los demonios" (2023), and "Folklore Libre" (2024).
We are happy and proud to welcome Emilio back to the Tango Fostbite team in 2026!
